ChatGPT Enterprise Pricing (2026): Every Plan, Seat Minimums, Hidden Costs and How It Compares

TL;DR

• ChatGPT Enterprise pricing is custom. OpenAI's pricing page lists Enterprise as "Custom pricing" and sends buyers to sales, with credit-based and token-based billing available on Enterprise contracts (openai.com).
• ChatGPT Business is the published alternative: a Standard seat costs $20 per user per month billed annually or $25 billed monthly, and a Premium seat costs $100 or $125. A workspace needs at least 2 seats, and new Business subscriptions top out at 200 paid seats (help.openai.com).
• The seat is only part of the bill. Credits for usage beyond included limits, API usage (never included in a ChatGPT plan), unused seats and the cleanup of the sources you connect all sit outside the seat price.

What is ChatGPT Enterprise pricing?

ChatGPT Enterprise pricing is a negotiated contract price: OpenAI does not publish a per-seat figure and quotes each deal through its sales team. The contract can include seat fees, a shared pool of credits or metered token usage, volume discounts and invoiced billing, which is why two companies of the same size can pay very different amounts.

OpenAI's Business pricing page shows two workspace plans side by side. Business has public seat prices and self-serve checkout. Enterprise shows "Custom pricing" and a contact sales button, with a footnote that credit-based and token-based pricing are available for Enterprise plans.

All prices below are in US dollars and were checked on OpenAI, Microsoft, Anthropic and Google pages on 26 October 2026. OpenAI notes that prices can vary by country and currency.

ChatGPT pricing by plan in 2026

Plus, Pro and Go are individual subscriptions. They have no shared workspace, no central billing and no admin controls, so buying them for staff is not a company deployment.

Nonprofits can get up to a 75% discount on ChatGPT Business or Enterprise through OpenAI for Nonprofits, according to the FAQ on the pricing page.

ChatGPT Business pricing: seat minimums, the 200 seat cap and annual vs monthly

ChatGPT Business, renamed from ChatGPT Team on 29 August 2025, is the plan most companies compare against Enterprise (help.openai.com). Four rules decide what it costs.

• Two seats minimum. A workspace needs at least 2 paid seats in any mix, such as 2 Standard, 2 Premium, or 1 of each.
• 200 seats maximum. From 24 August 2026, a Business subscription can hold at most 200 paid Standard and Premium seats, and support cannot raise the limit. Workspaces created before that date keep their earlier limit (help.openai.com). Past 200 seats, Enterprise is the only route.
• Annual billing saves 20%. A Standard seat costs $240 a year on annual billing against $300 on monthly billing. A Premium seat costs $1,200 a year against $1,500.
• Seats are capacity, not people. You buy Standard or Premium seats and assign them to members, and you can move people between seat types. Unassigned seats still count toward the 200 cap and are still billed.

A Premium seat gives 5 times the usage of a Standard seat and removes the 5-hour usage limit. Mixing seat types covers a few heavy users without paying Premium for everyone.

Business is self-serve and card-billed. OpenAI's help center says companies that need invoice billing, purchase orders, wire or ACH payment, net terms, Zero Data Retention or BAAs should use a contracted offering instead (help.openai.com). For many procurement teams, that decides the plan.

What ChatGPT Enterprise adds over Business

Both plans include ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex, SAML SSO, connectors to Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub and Microsoft 365, SOC 2 Type 2 compliance and no training on business data by default. The plan comparison lists these Enterprise-only items.

Where the "$60 per user" figure comes from

Most pricing articles repeat a ChatGPT Enterprise price of about $60 per user per month with a 150-seat minimum on a 12-month term. OpenAI has never published or confirmed it, and the Enterprise page today says only "Custom pricing." The figure traces back to buyer anecdotes from Enterprise's 2023 launch.

Treat it as a historical anchor, not a price. Enterprise contracts can now meter usage in credits or tokens on top of seat fees (help.openai.com), and Business now covers up to 200 seats at a public price, so neither the $60 nor the 150-seat floor describes today's deals.

Costs outside the seat price

The seat line is the number everyone quotes. These are the lines that move the total.

• Credits for usage beyond limits. Business seats have per-seat limits for advanced features. When a user hits the limit, they can keep going only if the workspace has bought credits, which are pooled across users and can auto-recharge (help.openai.com). Enterprise and Edu buy a shared credit pool at contract level, with no per-seat caps by default. When the pool runs out, advanced features pause unless owners enable overages or buy more.
• What consumes credits. OpenAI's rate card prices usage per model. Instant messages are unlimited, while a GPT-6 Sol message costs about 10 credits. ChatGPT Work, workspace agents and Codex are metered by tokens, so heavy users drive most of the credit spend.
• Token-based Enterprise billing. On eligible Enterprise agreements, usage across Chat, Work and Codex is metered in US dollars at contract rates, alongside any seat fees. It is not offered for Edu (help.openai.com).
• API usage. No ChatGPT plan includes API usage. Internal tools built on OpenAI models are billed separately on the API platform (help.openai.com).
• Unused seats. Seats are bought as capacity. A seat with no active user still costs the full rate, and unassigned seats count toward the 200-seat cap.
• Connectors and the data behind them. Connectors are included, but they only reach what is in the connected tool. If the decision lives in a meeting, the price change lives in the ERP and the exception lives in a Slack thread, someone has to join them before ChatGPT can answer. That work is usually unbudgeted. • Rollout and admin time. SSO setup, security review, policy and training take staff hours on any plan.

ChatGPT Enterprise vs Copilot, Claude Enterprise and Gemini Enterprise pricing

Every vendor except OpenAI now publishes an enterprise starting price. The structures differ more than the headline numbers.

• Microsoft renamed the product. Microsoft 365 Copilot is now called Microsoft Copilot, per Microsoft Learn. The pricing pages still label the SKU "Microsoft 365 Copilot (add-on)." Copilot Business has an $18 first-year promotional price on annual plans for existing Microsoft 365 Business customers who buy between 1 July and 31 December 2026. Budget the renewal at $21.
• Claude Enterprise is a seat plus usage. The $20 seat buys access, and model usage is billed on top at API rates, so heavy users cost more than the seat price suggests. See our Claude Enterprise guide.
• Gemini Enterprise is sold through Google Cloud, not Workspace. Business edition starts at $21 and covers 1 to 300 seats. How to estimate ChatGPT Enterprise total cost

You cannot look up an Enterprise price, but you can build the model your quote will be judged against. Fill in this worksheet before the first sales call.

For an Enterprise quote, replace the two seat lines with the contracted seat fee and add the contracted credit pool or token commitment. Then compare the two totals per active user, not per seat bought.

Four steps make it reliable.

1. Count active users, not employees. Run a 30-day pilot and read the usage analytics included in both plans.

2. Split heavy users out. People who run agents, Codex or long research tasks consume most credits. Price them as Premium seats or as credit spend, not as average users.

3. Price the monthly option. Monthly Business billing costs 25% more than annual, which can be worth it while adoption is uncertain.

4. Get every usage term in writing. Ask how the credit pool is sized, what happens when it runs out, the overage rate, the renewal price cap and the seat true-up rules.

How to choose between ChatGPT Business and Enterprise

• Choose Business if you have 2 to 200 users, card billing is acceptable, and you do not need SCIM, data residency, Enterprise Key Management or a Compliance API.
• Choose Enterprise if you need more than 200 seats, invoiced billing or net terms, SCIM, regional data residency, audit logs through the Compliance API, or a BAA.
• Look at alternatives if your company runs on Microsoft 365, where Microsoft Copilot sits inside the apps people already use, or if you want a published Enterprise seat price, as Claude Enterprise lists at $20 with a 20-seat minimum.
