Claude Enterprise vs ChatGPT Enterprise (2026): Price, Security, Data Residency and Which to Choose

Disclosure: Sentra makes one of the products compared here. We checked each vendor's own documentation and pricing, link every source, and name the better choice when it is not Sentra.

TL;DR

  • Claude Enterprise has a public price: $20 per seat per month billed annually plus usage at API rates, with a 20-seat minimum. ChatGPT Enterprise has no public price; OpenAI quotes it through sales and can meter usage in credits or tokens on top of seats.
  • Choose ChatGPT Enterprise if you need data stored at rest outside the US, or one general assistant that every function will use. OpenAI lists ten storage regions for eligible Enterprise customers.
  • Choose Claude Enterprise if your heaviest work is long documents, analysis and code, you want a seat price you can budget without a sales cycle, or you need a HIPAA-ready plan.
  • Both keep their context to themselves. Most companies end up running two or more assistants, and each one builds its own picture of the company. A shared organization memory such as Sentra gives both the same current facts.

Price

Claude Enterprise

Anthropic publishes the Enterprise price: $20 per seat per month billed annually, plus usage at API rates, with a 20-seat minimum. The seat fee is the floor and usage is the variable, so a team that runs long analyses on the most capable models pays more than a team that drafts emails. Self-serve Enterprise adds ACH payment; the sales-assisted plan adds invoicing, net terms and AWS Marketplace purchasing.

For a 100-person company, the seat fee is 100 x $20 = $2,000 a month, or $24,000 a year, before usage. Our guide to Claude API pricing lists the per-token rates that usage is billed at.

ChatGPT Enterprise

OpenAI's Enterprise page says only "Custom pricing". The figure of about $60 per user per month with a 150-seat minimum that many articles repeat traces back to buyer anecdotes from 2023 and was never published by OpenAI. Enterprise contracts can now meter usage in credits or tokens on top of seat fees. Our ChatGPT Enterprise pricing breakdown covers how to negotiate it.

The smaller plans

If you do not need SCIM, audit logs or data residency, the team plans cost about the same. Claude Team is $20 per standard seat per month billed annually, or $25 monthly, for 2 to 150 seats, with premium seats at $100 that carry five times the usage. ChatGPT Business is $20 per user per month billed annually, or $25 monthly, with a two-seat minimum.

Security and administration

Both Enterprise plans cover the basics a security review will ask for: single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, role-based access and no training on your content by default.

The differences are in the details:

1. Data residency. This is the clearest split. OpenAI lets eligible Enterprise customers store content at rest in ten regions. Anthropic's plan page lists US-only inference at 1.1x API pricing and does not list regional storage as an Enterprise feature. A European or Indian company with residency rules should ask Anthropic directly before shortlisting Claude.

2. Keys. OpenAI lists Enterprise Key Management for customer-managed keys. Anthropic's plan page does not list it.

3. Healthcare. Anthropic lists a HIPAA-ready offering on Enterprise. OpenAI handles healthcare terms through sales.

What each is better at

Claude Enterprise suits work that is long and careful: reading contracts and research, working through spreadsheets and writing and reviewing code. Context runs up to 1M tokens depending on the model, and Claude Code is part of the same subscription family, which makes it a common choice in engineering-led companies. See our Claude Enterprise guide.

ChatGPT Enterprise suits a company that wants one assistant for everyone, from sales to finance to support, with the widest range of built-in tools and the most familiar interface. See our ChatGPT Enterprise guide.

Many companies buy both: ChatGPT for the whole company and Claude for engineering and analysis. That is reasonable, and it creates the problem in the next section.

What neither one solves: shared company memory

Each assistant builds its own context. ChatGPT has its memory and connectors, Claude has its projects and connectors, and each reads whatever documents it is pointed at. Neither knows what the other was told, and neither knows which of three conflicting documents is current.

So the same question gets two different answers. A support lead asks ChatGPT for a customer's renewal date and gets last quarter's figure from an old deck; an engineer asks Claude and gets the date from the contract. Both assistants did their job. The company still has two answers.

Sentra is organization memory: one governed record of what is true in the company, built from email, chat, meetings, documents and systems of record across more than 200 tools. Every fact carries when it became true and when it stopped, so a changed decision replaces the old one instead of competing with it. ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini and internal agents all read the same memory over MCP and REST, and every answer respects each source's permissions. Sentra is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified, and runs in the cloud, in an isolated VPC or air-gapped on-prem.

In the Glass Company, an independent test built and scored by Era by Eon, Sentra had never seen the company and found 495 of the 497 problems hidden in it, in 102 minutes. Claude Opus, given the same systems, found 8%. The gap is memory, not the model.

How to choose

1. You need storage outside the US or customer-managed keys. Choose ChatGPT Enterprise.

2. Your heaviest users are engineers, analysts or lawyers working through long material. Choose Claude Enterprise.

3. You want a price you can budget before talking to sales. Choose Claude Enterprise, or either team plan.

4. You are under 150 people and do not need SCIM or residency. Claude Team or ChatGPT Business; the price is the same.

5. You will run both, or add Copilot or Gemini later. Pick on the points above, and give every assistant the same company memory with Sentra so their answers agree.
